The European Master’s in Physics and Engineering of Nuclear Fusion (FUSION-EP) is a two-year joint Erasmus Mundus Master’s Degree (EMJMD). Focused on the physics and technology of nuclear fusion as an energy source, it offers research-oriented training in engineering physics, delivered by a consortium of eight European universities.

The FUSION-EP program is organized into two periods of increasing specialization, each taking place in two different countries, following two distinct tracks: fusion science and fusion technology.

Academic Pathway

If you choose Aix-Marseille University for your first year, you will follow a core curriculum designed to provide a solid foundation in general physics. Two course units (80 hours total) will introduce you to plasmas and thermonuclear fusion. In addition, you will participate in all FUSION EP Master’s program events: international mobility for winter and summer events, educational visits to tokamaks…

If you choose Aix-Marseille University for your second year, you will take courses 100% dedicated to the physics of magnetized plasmas in thermonuclear fusion: controlled magnetic fusion, plasma physics, magnetohydrodynamics, turbulence… In addition, you will participate in all events of the FUSION EP Master’s program: international mobility for winter and summer events, hands-on work on the WEST (France) and COMPASS (Czech Republic) tokamaks…
