The principle

ISFIN organizes events around nuclear energy, fission and fusion, consisting of conferences or seminars for the general public. Some events are specially dedicated to PhD students, and your presence is required.

ISFIN Days

Every year, the Institute organizes an ISFIN day, which can take a number of different forms:

  • A presentation day with start-ups from the nuclear sector.
  • A half-day presentation of ISFIN opportunities for PhD students.
  • A remote demonstration of a fission reactor.

Number of hours of doctoral training: 3h-6h in October-November

Seminars

ISFIN presents a theme every year, including "From the discovery of the origin of solar energy to fusion reactor concepts...".

These seminars are an excellent (and almost compulsory) preparation for the ITER visit.

Presented by Yannick Marandet, ISFIN Director (1st semester)

ITER visit and introductory seminar

Attend the introductory seminar given by Richard Pitts (ITER Scientific Division), then visit the ITER construction site, with commentary by Richard Pitts and other scientific specialists.

Number of hours of doctoral training: 2 hours for the seminar in January-February

IMSci-Nu Winter School

This 4-day winter school deals with instrumentation and measurement sciences, in the context of various nuclear fields (fission, fusion, space, medicine). It involves a number of French and foreign scientists and experts from industry and academia.

Number of hours of doctoral training: Choice of a half-day seminar for 3 hours of training at least in January-February.
